It is the Natchitoches Parish School Board’s policy to promote a safe environment for its employees, students, parents, and visitors while they are on school property.  The School Board is committed to working with its employees to maintain a work environment free from violence, threats of violence, harassment, intimidation, and other disruptive behavior.

Violence, threats, harassment, intimidation, and other disruptive behavior in our workplace will not be tolerated, that is, all reports of incidents shall be taken seriously and dealt with appropriately.  Improper behavior can include oral and written statements, gestures, or expressions that communicate a direct or indirect threat of physical harm.  Individuals who commit such acts may be removed from the premises and may be subject to reprimands or disciplinary action up to and including termination, and/or criminal penalties.

Violence includes physically harming another person, shoving, pushing, harassing, intimidating, coercing, brandishing weapons, and threatening or talking of engaging in these activities.  In addition, no talking of violence or joking about violence shall be tolerated.

Employees should not ignore violent, threatening, harassing, intimidating, or other disruptive behavior.  If an employee observes or experiences such behavior by anyone on Board premises, whether he or she is a school employee or not, he/she should immediately report it to a principal or supervisor.  Principals or supervisors who receive such reports should seek advice from the Child Welfare and Attendance Office regarding investigating the incident and initiating appropriate action.  Threats or assaults that require immediate attention by policy should be reported to 911.
