It shall be the policy that the use of the Natchitoches Parish School Board owned buses will be restricted in the following manner:


  1. For activities of an educational nature within the Parish, the use of the buses must be requested by the principal of the school involved and it must be limited in time so as not to interfere with the regular route to which that bus is assigned.

  2. For educational activities outside the Parish, the use of the buses will be limited to transporting those students who are engaged in representing their school in the principal activity for which the trip is required.  The request for this too must come from the principal involved.

  3. Approval for the use of the buses must be requested at a time prior to the trip sufficient for the office staff to evaluate the request and make arrangements necessary.  All buses on all occasions must be driven by persons with an appropriate CDL license.  The principal of the school involved will be held responsible for seeing that the above condition is met.




In order to serve the public interest, the Natchitoches Parish School Board has adopted guidelines to provide for liability insurance coverage for certain non-school related activities.  This coverage shall apply only to civic, church, or non-profit organizations residing in Natchitoches Parish.


Requests to use a school bus for making a trip must be made by the group or organization on the Board's Non-School Related Bus Trip Request form and approved by the Superintendent or designee prior to departure.  All Natchitoches Parish School Board Policies regarding safety shall be enforced, and absolutely no alcoholic beverages may be carried or consumed on the school bus.
