PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MEETING OF

NATCHITOCHES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

HELD ON AUGUST 8, 2013

 

 

 

A regular meeting of the Natchitoches Parish School Board was held on Thursday, August 8, 2013, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Natchitoches Parish School Board Office, 310 Royal Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana, and upon roll call, the following members and Derwood Duke, Secretary-Treasurer, were present:  Cecil Walker, Carroll Daniels, Ralph Wilson, Joella Wilson, Harry Graham, Russell Danzy, Michael Hilton, Donna Masson, Carl Means, Thomas Melder and George Rhymes.

Absent:   None.

 

The meeting was called to order by President Means, followed by an invocation by Mrs. Masson and Pledge of Allegiance by Mr. Melder.

 

Under Superintendent/Staff Reports, the Board received:

 

           

Under new business, the Board unanimously approved a Memorandum of Understanding between the Natchitoches Parish School Board and Northwest Louisiana Technical College-Natchitoches Campus Dual Enrollment/Articulation Agreement for 2013-2014 and authorize the Superintendent to sign all necessary papers. 

 

On motion of Mrs. Rhymes, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the Board unanimously approved the following consent agenda items:

 

 1.        Adoption of Agenda.

 

 2.        Approval of Minutes of July 11, 2013

 

 3.        FINANCE ITEMS

 

            A.         Payment of Bills:   

        

            B.         Out of State Travel:

 

(1)        Henry Eric Smith & Ryan Riley, Vo-Ag Teachers, Lakeview High School, travel to Louisville, Kentucky, October 26 – November 4, 2013, to chaperone students Aaron Babers, Gage Whatley, Brandon Powell, Robert Giddings, Kevin Norman, Heather Johnson, Madeline Valencia, and Brooke Blackmon to compete at the National FFA Convention.   Stipends to be paid according to Board policy.

 

(2)        Aaron Beaubouef & Brandon Smith, Vo-Ag Teachers, Natchitoches Central High School, travel to Louisville, Kentucky, October 28-November 4, 2013, to chaperone students Hannah Nichols, Rain Still, Jessie Dunn, Jennifer Cheatwood, Ashton Cruse, Maizy Rabalais, Colt Connell, Hailey Marina, Joseph Settle, Josh Bolton, Chris Hampton, C.J. Bouchie, Duston Nichols and Jeremy Walker.  Stipends to be paid according to Board policy.

Mr. Russsell Danzy presented the Finance, Facilities, Services and Insurance Report.

 

On motion of Mrs. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Graham, the Board approved a grant agreement with The Rapides Foundation for a Healthy Behavior Project in the amount of $46,500.00 for 2013-2015 with authorization for the Superintendent to sign the necessary paperwork.

              

On motion of Mr. Wilson, seconded by Mr. Melder, the Board unanimously approved the Consolidated Natchitoches Parish School Board Budget for 2013-2014.

 

On motion of Mr. Danzy, seconded by Mrs. Masson, and unanimously carried, the Board approved the Natchitoches Tax Commission Budget for 2013-2014.

           

Mrs. Linda Page presented the Personnel Report to the Board.    

               

Board members received a listing of those employees who have left the district due to resignation, retirement or termination since the last school board meeting.

 

Mr. George Rhymes presented the Executive Report.

 

On motion of Mr. Rhymes, seconded by Mr. Wilson, and with unanimous consent, the Board approved the Pupil Progression Plan for 2013 & 2014. 

  

On motion of Mr. Rhymes, seconded by Mr. Hilton, the Board adjourned.
