PROCEEDINGS OF REGULAR MEETING

OF NATCHITOCHES PARISH SCHOOL BOARD

HELD SEPTEMBER 7, 2005

 

A regular meeting of the Natchitoches Parish School Board was held on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, at 5:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the Natchitoches Parish School Board Office, 310 Royal Street, Natchitoches, Louisiana, and upon roll call, the following members and Elwanda Murphy, Secretary-Treasurer, were present: Carroll Daniels, Ralph Wilson, Julia Hildebrand, Millard J. Bienvenu, Russell E. Danzy, Emile Metoyer, Joella Wilson, Gladys Revels, Billy Benefield and Carl Means.     Absent: Cecil Walker.                             

 

Dr. Elwanda Murphy presented a report on how the school system is aiding the refugees of Hurricane Katrina.

 

Ms. Mimi Stoker of the LSU Agriculture Center presented her staff to the Board.

    

On motion of  Mrs. Revels, seconded by Mr. Wilson, the Board approved the following consent agenda items:

  

 1.        Adoption of Agenda.

 2.        Approval of Minutes of August 11 & 25, 2005

 3.        FINANCE ITEMS:

 

A.         Payment of Bills: 

             

B.         Out of State Travel:

 

(1)        Ronnie Waites, principal, Natchitoches Central High School, travel to Austin, Texas, October 21-24, 2005, to attend the NASSP Region 8 State Leader' Conference.   At no cost to the Board.

(2)        Carrie Elliott, teacher, Fairview Alpha Elementary, travel to Gulfport, Mississippi, October 10-11, 2005, to attend the Introduction to Reading Renaissance Seminar.   At no cost to the Board other than substitute.

                        (1)        Linda Smith, teacher, Natchitoches Central High School, due to illness for the 2005-2006 school year.

(2)        Autumn Shaver Greer, teacher, North Natchitoches Elementary School, second semester of the 2005-2006 school year.

 

Mr. Billy Benefield, Jr. presented the Finance, Facilities and Insurance Report.

 

On motion of Mr. Benefield, seconded by Mr. Wilson, and unanimously carried, the Board accepted the Consolidated Budget for 2005-2006 for Natchitoches Parish School Board.

 

On motion of Mr. Benefield, seconded by Mr. Means, and with unanimous consent, the Board authorized an  agreement with Gulf South Pipeline Company, LP., that grants permission and license to enter upon and cross the school board property   (Section 16, Township 11, 6 West) for the purpose of conducting feasibility, boundary, appraisal, archeological, environmental and species surveys and inspections, including shovel and soil boring test, as Gulf South at its sole expense may elect to conduct.    

 

Dr. Millard J. Bienvenu presented the Personnel Report.

 

On motion Of Mr. Metoyer, seconded by Mr. Wilson, and with majority consent, the Board approved the following personnel items:   

 

1.         Approval of Personnel:

 

A.         Candace Grayson, school social worker, pupil appraisal, replacing Joanna Allison.

B.         Michelle Hendrix, special education teacher, Natchitoches Junior High School, replacing Sherman Vogel.       

C.         Kristie Irchirl,  teacher,  Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School, replacing Michael Ensminger.

D.         Rick Woodward, special education teacher, Natchitoches Educational Center, replacing Brenda Melder.

E.         Marissa Bejarno, teacher, Lakeview Jr./Sr. High School, replacing Jamie McLarty.

                        F.         Kenrick Foy, band director, Natchitoches Central High School, replacing Mark Johnson.

G.         Tiffany Petite, paraprofessional, North Natchitoches Elementary School,  replacing Patricia Williams.

H.         Natasha Welch, special education tutor, Marthaville Elem./Jr. High School, at $6.00 per hour not to exceed 35 hours per week.

I.          Amy Holman, special education tutor, Provencal Elem./Jr. High School, at $6.00 per hour, not to exceed 35 hours per week.

J.          Amanda Jones, special education tutor, Provencal Elem./Jr. High School, at $6.00 per hour not to exceed 35 hours per week.

K.         Eva Paige, paraprofessional, North Natchitoches Elementary School, replacing Patricia Monette.

L.         Alanna Hennigan, special education tutor, Weaver Elementary School, at $7.50 per hour not to exceed 35 hours per week.

M.        Kristy Cox, Title I paraprofessional, Parks Elementary School, replacing Charessa Diane Brown.

N.        Chantell Sharbino, Even Start paraprofessional for 9.5 months, Natchitoches Educational Center, replacing Erma Rodgers.

O.         Wendy Blanchard, special education tutor, Fairview Alpha Elementary School.

 

2.         Transfers and/or Reassignments:

 

A.         Rita Jones, from part-time clerical to full-time, special education, replacing Tonya Reliford.

B.         Angela Johnson, teacher, from Goldonna Elementary School to Fairview  Alpha Elementary School, due to increase in enrollment.

C.         Jere' Rushing, teacher, from Goldonna Elementary School to Fairview Alpha Elementary School, due to increase in enrollment.

D.         Sherri Tyler, teacher, from Goldonna Elementary School to Fairview Alpha Elementary School, due to increase in enrollment.

E.         Tammy Maley,  teacher,   Provencal Elem./Jr. High School, from Title II to regular education,  replacing Francine Cook .

F.         Steven Norwood, teacher, from Natchitoches Junior High School to Provencal Elem./Jr. High School, due to increase in enrollment.

                        G.         Lisette Moses,  teacher, Title II,  transfer from North Natchitoches Elementary School to Provencal Elem./Jr. High School.

H.         Carol Walker, teacher, from Natchitoches Education Center to East Natchitoches Elementary, due to increased enrollment.

Mr. Carl Means presented the Executive Report.

 

There were no items voted on in the Executive Session.

 

On motion of Mr. Metoyer, the Board adjourned.
